Air Filtration and You

Consider this. What air filter is right for you? It really depends. It depends on the layout of your home, if you have any allergic or asthmatic issues, and how much you’re willing to spend. The choices can be dizzying and frustrating. Make your life easier and contact New York’s premier HVAC company at GMG HVAC Inc.

When you’re picking out a household air filter, there are three factors to consider. Size, material and MERV rating. The MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value)  rating is a numerical system graded from 1-16 that determines, under the least efficient conditions, how effectively the filter traps contaminants. Remember that a higher MERV rated filter will allow less air to pass through, and cause your system to work harder and cost you more money.

Size is the simplest factor. All you need to do is look at the label on your existing filter and it will give you the dimensions. Don’t see it? Simply measure it. For materials, filters can be manufactured out of fiberglass, washable synthetics, or other substances.

To really keep it simple, just contact us for a free and no-obligation service estimate. We’ll meet at your home and design a filtration and ventilation system that’s right for you. If you or members of your family have respiratory issues or allergies, we can design a system that provides you with maximum comfort and health. Whether you want to create a healthier living environment, eradicate pollutants or just reduce the necessity of dusting, we can make it happen.
